Conservation and habitat are important to pheasant populations.Conservation and managing pheasant populations are important to J. P. Denmark.

At J. P. Denmark we like to think of ourselves as a good stewards of the land, taking great care to manage the pheasant population. Out on his snowmobile on bitter cold winters days,  James checks the fence lines and sloughs for winter kill. In the early spring we release 1000+ hens (never roosters) in the areas that our research indicates would be most beneficial for the overall pheasant population. From this spring release we see an 80% covey hatch with 3-9 birds per hen. The reward is seen in the fall when a plentiful crop of young roosters, wild and fully acclimated to their surroundings, are flushed from the fields.

Much of J.P. Denmark’s hunting grounds are CRP acres. CRP land creates optimum pheasant habitat.
